With Indigenous Peoples’ Day in October and Veterans Day in November\, this forum arrives at the perfect moment to elevate both communities and examine the housing challenges they continue to face. California has recently taken meaningful steps to support these populations. Governor Newsom awarded $38.2 million to Tribal Nations to expand homelessness and housing solutions\, and the Legislature advanced Senate Bill 417\, a major veterans‑focused housing bond proposal for the November ballot. These investments signal a growing recognition that Indigenous communities and veterans must be centered in conversations about affordable and fair housing.
